"There's no need to fear. Underdog is here!" The superhero canine with a gift for rhyme returns in an all new live-action re-imagination of the classic cartoon, "Underdog."
After an accident in the mysterious lab of maniacal scientist Dr. Simon Barsinister (Peter Dinklage), an ordinary beagle unexpectedly finds himself with unimaginable powers and the ability to speak. Armed with a fetching superhero costume, Underdog (voiced by comedian Jason Lee) vows to protect the beleaguered citizens of Capitol City and, in particular, one beautiful spaniel named Polly Purebread (voiced by Academy Award® nominee Amy Adams). When a sinister plot by Barsinister and his overgrown henchman Cad (Patrick Warburton) threatens to destroy Capitol City only Underdog can save the day.— More here |

'Underdog' barking up the wrong
tree
Sam Adams
Los Angeles Times
The movie's sloppiness is galling, especially given its target audience.
It's one thing to feed grown-ups junk, and another to serve it to
consumers too young to know they're being had.
Not
unlike its accident-prone superhero, "Underdog" is
clumsy, fast-moving and thoroughly inoffensive.
Justin Chang
Variety
Parents who grew up watching "Underdog" may feel a twinge
of nostalgia during the film's opening sequence, which affectionately
revisits the series' modest, hand-drawn images. Modest, however,
doesn't quite describe the rest of the movie -- which, even at
a mercifully brief 80 minutes, is the sort of noisy, over-produced
affair in line with much recent family-friendly programming.
Rated B-
Owen Gleiberman
Entertainment Weekly
This digitized update, with Jason Lee as a huskier, more generic
Underdog, mostly drops the doggerel, but the endearing airborne-beagle
effects help to offset the formula twists.
