ithinklovewife051.jpg (62 K) "I Think I Love My Wife," written, directed by and starring Chris Rock, is a sophisticated comedy about marriage and the lure of a new love. Nikki (Kerry Washington) is the exciting free spirit who makes Richard's (Chris Rock) daydreams come true while Richard's wife Brenda (Gina Torres) is so preoccupied with her own career and raising their two children that she has little time for her husband. Chris Rock does something entirely unexpected. He isn't funny.
Kirk Honeycutt
HOLLYWOOD REPORTER

As a director, Rock has little visual flair, so the film looks clumsy and stilted.

Bland, tedious
Emanuel Levy
EMANUELLEVY.COM

"A bland, tedious Rock sounds like contradiction in terms in describing the usually energetic comic but that's what we get here. Claiming linkage to Rohmer's classic Chloe in the Afternoon may bring cache but also shows the huge gap between the films"

I Think I Love Kerry Washington
Richard Horgan
Film Stew

In The Seven Year Itch, it was of course Marilyn Monroe who got inside the head of Tom Ewell’s Richard Sherman, most famously with the help of a subway ventilation grid. In the case of Chris Rock’s seven-year itch comedy I Think I Love My Wife, the honors go to Kerry Washington. Only instead of an upskirt flutter, she messes with Rock’s Richard Cooper with the aid of a few choice F-words and the flaunting of a bodacious booty.
